I'm sorry to tell you, that PalmaSutra.org will be offline for some days/weeks, starting from sometimes within the next week.
We have to move to another server and this will cause the downtime.
I hope, we can leave the deep-URLs as they are, because we have a lot of direct links to our files causing the obviously neverending amount of downloads here. After a long time of nothing, something moved on PalmaSutra.org again - but it felt asleep again... :-(
Our programmer Paul Russel is not reachable any more (I really hope, he's O.K.!) and we are sitting here with a nearly RTM version for PocketPC and can't get finished. I have no sources, so a new programmer cannot help either. But in fact, beta3 for PocketPC is pretty usable and that's why I decided to make it public! It's not perfect, I know the minor bugs and function lags, but it should bring the content to your PocketPC, that you want to have there... ;-) So from now on, you find PalmaSutra 2.5 for PocketPC beta3 in the download section! (it's the same file, beta-testers got via mail, so you don't have do install it again - nothing new, sorry...) Today we invite you to take part in the beta-phase of "PalmaSutra 2.5 for PocketPC". PalmaSutra for Pocket PC is a new version of the world famous PalmaSutra application. This version has all of your favourite positions and dialogs, but has been entirely re-written to work on devices running Windows Mobile 2003 for PocketPC. Beyond being simply a rewrite, this version contains additional features like password protection, letting you set favourites and having menus that show your favourite positions and positions yet to be tried. We are now searching for 10 advanced PocketPC-users with a device running Windows Mobile 2003 for PocketPC to test the program and report bugs or further wishes to us. Different from the way of development announced on december 28th 2003, we were not able to bring forward a stable version 2.5 until today. There has been a 2.5 beta-version ready in february 2004 but we did not bring it up because of various technical problems with it.
These problems could not be fixed and so nothing was going on from then. Now Florian decided to stop this and to restart development with a new team. There are already simple pre-alpha versions with promising new features like e.g. a transparency-based model for showing the positions. Nevertheless, we are still far apart from a stable version. We are proud to officially announce PalmaSutra version 2.5 being in development process!
This new version of PalmaSutra will only bring some minor technical improvements: - Support of PalmOS 5 HighRes devices (showing the already existing 8bit color HighRes pictures) - a completely redesigned file system Against different phrased rumors, PalmaSutra 2.5 will not offer any new content. And now let us wish you a happy new year 2004 with a lot of fun...! ;-) 27.08.2003 - 1st Official Announcement [Florian T. Rose / Florian Weber] It took a long time... But finally, here's our first statement for PalmaSutra: PalmaSutra was and still is one of the most exciting and most used freeware programms for the PalmOS. Some people love it, some people don't like it, but however: There is no other programm with this context nor this idea behind it, running on that many handheld operating systems and that many languages. To our suprise, some months ago we found out, that the former "official" PalmaSutra-websites were offline and the main-creator of the programm wasn't reachable at all. And we tried hard... And most of the PalmOS5-users realized that the promised high-resolution update to PalmaSutra 2.1 was overdue for a long time. And it still is... Short words: the former enthusastic PalmaSutra-project seemed to die a long and lonely death, if nobody would take care of it. But we did. We got together and designated us to the idea of continue the good work and, this time, let all fans help us. But for this read further. First step of course was the creation of the new website, you're on right now. First wwe want to bring PalmaSutra 2.1 back to full availbility for downloads. But the problem is: even with intensive search and the help of a lot of people we didn't get all the different versions to bring them back online. So we need YOUR HELP to get it all back together. If you have any version, we don't have online yet, PLEASE MAIL IT to contact/at/palmasutra.org! We will put it online, we promise. And finaly, along with all that, we want to continue to develop PalmaSutra as well, of course. The new goal is set high: PalmaSutra 3.0! But even here we want you help, your ideas. A project like this, made for a lot of people, needs a lot of helping hands, like creatives, designer and programmer. PalmaSutra is not intendet to be just another code-evolutiuon of the version 2, no, it shall be a complete new set of content and design! We don't even guess what the result will be in the end. But this is your choice to make the different and to help us create a complete a program, that fits for you... So if you like to share your ideas with us, please use the board. Or, maybe if you want to help us with our work, just register and become a member of the team.
